Access Does Not Equal Outcomes: Intentional Implementation with Math Nation+

Many educators have access to high-quality instructional resources—but access alone does not lead to improved student outcomes. This full-day session focuses on what truly makes the difference: intentional, consistent implementation in real classrooms. Participants will explore how Math Nation+ can be used as a flexible instructional resource to support a range of classroom goals—while gaining practical, ready-to-use strategies for purposeful integration into daily instruction, establishing consistent routines and structures, and using data to inform and adjust instructional decisions. Math Nation+ continues to evolve, with updated tools and features designed to better support both teachers and students. This session will highlight those enhancements through the lens of real classroom application—when to use them, how to use them, and why they matter. Whether you are new to Math Nation+ or looking to strengthen and refine your current implementation, this session offers a fresh, practical approach focused on turning access into meaningful impact. 6 Hours of EILA/PD available.

Thinking Like A Historian: Sourcing the Past

Before students can argue or analyze, they need to know how to read like a historian. Rooted in the Science of Reading and disciplinary literacy, this session explores how comprehension instruction directly strengthens social studies learning. Dig into the core historical thinking skills — sourcing, contextualization, close reading, and corroboration — and explore practical routines for teaching kids to question where evidence comes from, when and why it was created, and how it stacks up against other sources. Go beyond basic decoding to show students how to extract deep meaning, build background knowledge, and navigate complex informational texts. Designed for K–12 social studies, these approaches build the foundation every inquiry depends on and are ready to use on Monday.
Cognitive Coaching Foundations Seminar

Cognitive Coaching℠ is a form of mediation that can be applied to professional interactions in a variety of settings and situations with the intention of enhancing self-directed learning. It is a composite of skills, strategies, maps, and tools as well as mental models and beliefs. It is also a model for classroom mediation to enhance students' self-directed learning. Research on Cognitive Coaching℠ has linked its implementation to increased student achievement, greater teacher efficacy and satisfaction, higher levels of teacher cognition and professional, collaborative cultures.
This is the 8-day Foundational Training and is presented only in a face-to-face format. Participants will develop understanding of three structured conversations focusing on planning, reflecting, and problem resolving. In addition, they will develop knowledge and skills for expanding teacher thinking. EILA will be applied for each day.
ARC Chair Training

Designed for new and experienced ARC Chairs, this full-day training provides the knowledge and practical tools needed to confidently lead Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meetings. Participants will strengthen their understanding of Kentucky special education regulations, procedural requirements, meeting facilitation, documentation, and decision-making. Through real-world scenarios, legal guidance, and hands-on practice, ARC Chairs will leave with strategies to improve compliance while fostering meaningful collaboration with families and school teams.
Participants will learn how to:
Lead legally compliant and student-focused ARC meetings.
Facilitate collaborative discussions and navigate difficult conversations.
Ensure IEP decisions are based on data and individualized student needs.
Document decisions that withstand compliance review.
Avoid common procedural errors that lead to complaints or corrective actions.
PREPaRE Workshop 1

In this 1-day workshop participants will learn how to establish and sustain comprehensive school safety efforts that attend to both physical and psychological safety. The workshop addresses critical components needed to develop, exercise, and evaluate safety and crisis teams and plans and conduct building vulnerability assessments. The model also integrates school personnel and community provider roles in providing school-based crisis preparedness and response activities. Additional topics addressed also include media/social media, communication, reunification, students with special needs, culture, and memorials. After this workshop, participants will be better prepared to improve their school's climate, student resilience, and crisis response capabilities of school personnel. With updated research and strategies, this workshop makes a clear connection between ongoing crisis prevention, mitigation, protection, response, and recovery. PREPaRE Workshop 1 provides a broad overview of the school crisis team's roles and responsibilities, with a special emphasis on crisis prevention and preparedness.
Participants must attend the entire day and stay through the end of the day to take the post-test in order to receive a certificate of completion.
NOTE: Registration Deadline is Monday, August 31 at 4:00 pm ET.
NOTE: This training is offered at no cost by the KDE Stronger Connections Grant! However, due to having to purchase seat licenses ahead of time, anyone who cancels registration after Monday, August 31, 2026 will be billed for the license fee.
6.5 hours of EILA credit will be available. Participants must allow time for some preparation prior to the training.

Building the Foundation: The Foundational 5 for Student Success.
Teachers will explore the essential five EBPs that support meaningful learning, participation, and independence for students with ASD. In this session, you will explore the foundational 5 evidence-based practices (EBPs), understand how these practices support meaningful student outcomes, and learn practical strategies for implementation in your own educational setting.
Participants will receive a 3 hour PD/EILA credit certificate.
This session is the first in the Beyond the Basics: ASD Cadre. Participation in all cadre sessions is encouraged but not required.

Writing High-Quality IEPs
6-Hour Professional Learning
Develop IEPs that are both legally compliant and meaningful for students. This interactive workshop walks participants through each component of the IEP, including Present Levels, measurable annual goals, specially designed instruction (SDI), accommodations, supplementary aids and services, and progress monitoring. Through real-world examples and hands-on practice, participants will strengthen their IEP writing skills and leave with practical tools they can immediately apply in their work.
Community Based Instruction 101

SDI Implementation Series

Specially Designed Instruction is essential to ensuring students with disabilities can access, participate in, and make progress in grade-level learning. This four-day academy will deepen participants’ understanding of SDI and provide practical strategies for planning and delivering effective instruction across a variety of least restrictive environments. Participants will also explore how co-teaching can support the implementation of SDI within inclusive classrooms.
When you register for this training, you are committing to all four sessions. (9/15/26, 10/13/2026, 11/17/2026, 12/8/2026). These will all be full day sessions from 8:30a-3:30p. 6 hours of PD credit, per day.

This professional learning series is designed for district and school leaders responsible for curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Through a sequence of collaborative sessions, participants will explore how to effectively implement and maximize their High-Quality Instructional Resources (HQIRs) to drive improved student outcomes.
Using the Curriculum Implementation Framework as a guide, leaders will learn how to develop and refine a local curriculum document, utilize the Pedagogical Practices Mapping Tool, and align learning targets, standards, lessons, and assessments to ensure coherence across their instructional system.
Each session will balance learning, reflection, and collaboration, providing opportunities for participants to:
- Examine tools and processes that strengthen curriculum implementation;
- Apply learning to their own district or school context;
- Engage in meaningful discussion and problem-solving with peers; and
- Hear from other districts about their implementation successes and challenges.
By the end of the series, participants will leave with actionable tools, aligned curriculum structures, and strategies to ensure improved teaching and learning across classrooms.

As AI shows up in classrooms, planning periods, and district conversations, the question isn't whether to engage with it, but how to do it well. The AI Empowered Teacher Cadre is a standing community for educators who want to build real skill with AI tools and collaboratively figure out what responsible and effective use looks like in K-12 schools.
This cadre will meet monthly on the third Thursday to build AI literacy and skills, think together, integrate AI into instruction, and streamline workflows. An hour of PD credit will be provided for each session attended.
Assessing Fluency in Math- Beyond The Timed Test in Grades K-5

On September 21st, we will have an in-person session to work together and dig into UFLI Foundations. During this session, our goals would be to enhance our background knowledge for teaching foundational reading, setting up the lessons, breaking down the lessons to meet student access needs, and more! Please note, that this session is specifically for special education teachers using UFLI with students who have complex needs, multiple disabilities, and/or limited verbal language. Vibrant Learning Academy for Leaders

The Vibrant Learning Academy brings together district and school leaders and classroom teachers to build vibrant learning in our region — from the classroom to the system level. Participants join one of two pathways, Leaders or Teachers, and work across three sessions throughout the year, culminating in a joint showcase in April where both pathways present what they built, modeled after a student exhibition of learning. Districts are encouraged to bring both a leader and teachers so the work stays connected across pathways.
The Leader Pathway
The Leaders Pathway is for district and school leaders ready to build the system-level structures that let vibrant learning take hold and last. Leaders will examine their current structures and systems — including where they stand with Portrait of a Learner, performance outcomes and indicators, and performance assessment — and determine their own next best step, whether that's naming outcomes for the first time, refining indicators already in place, or designing structures like defenses of learning or student-led conferences. Leaders will identify a clear next step for their district and develop a plan for taking it.

In this session, you'll explore Danielson's Domain 2 and learn that classroom culture is designed, not discovered. You build it or it builds itself. Grounded in Conscious Discipline and the brain science behind it, you'll examine how survival, emotional, and executive brain states shape both your students' behavior and your own. Because here's the truth — you can't regulate students if you can't regulate yourself. You'll unpack the difference between routines, procedures, and expectations, and why practicing them daily matters more than posting them on a bulletin board. You'll dig into what it means to build a classroom family instead of just managing a room full of students — from learning what makes your kids tick to knowing when to hold firm and when to flex.
Whether you're a veteran reexamining the invisible messages your systems might be sending, a new teacher designing culture from scratch, or an alternatively certified teacher learning what no one taught you about classroom environment, this session gives you the tools to build a space where every student feels safe — physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Alternate Assessment Unlocked: Everything MSD Teachers Need to Know

Take the mystery out of Kentucky's Alternate Assessment! This training breaks down the essentials into clear, manageable steps. Learn about important timelines, what assessments are required, necessary documentation, and best practices for successful administration.
9:00–11:00 a.m. – Attainment Task Overview (All Grade Levels)
This session will provide an overview of the Kentucky Alternate Assessment Attainment Task for teachers across all grade levels.
12:00–2:00 p.m. – Breakout Sessions
Elementary & Middle School (Grades 3–8): A deeper exploration of alternate academic standards, instructional planning, and strategies for developing standards-based instruction that prepares students for the Attainment Task.
High School: A focused session on specific high school alternate assessment requirements, including the Employability Skills Attainment Record (ESAR), Career Work Experience Certification (CWEC), and Transition Attainment Record (TAR). Participants will review requirements, documentation, timelines, and implementation strategies to support successful completion of these components.
This is an all-day virtual training with a break for lunch in between the morning and afternoon sessions. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions.
