Unlocking Literacy Series: Building Fluency for Comprehension

About

This session explores the role of reading fluency as the bridge between decoding and comprehension, with a focus on supporting adolescent readers. Participants will examine the three key components of fluency: accuracy, rate, and prosody and learn practical, evidence-based strategies such as repeated reading, partner reading, choral reading, phrase-cued reading, and assisted reading. The session emphasizes simple routines that can be used across content areas to help students read more smoothly, confidently, and with greater understanding. You will receive 2 hours of Professional Development Credit for completing this module.
