8/4/2020 Creating a Successful Online Classroom – PM

Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

This webinar will focus on creating an online learning environment which develops engagement and interaction with and between your students.  Key considerations will be shared by the presenter.  Additionally, participants will be encouraged to share their experiences of teaching in online environments.

 

1.5 hours of PD/EILA credit will be awarded upon completion of the Exit Slip & Evaluation.

8/4/2020 Starting the School Year Using a Trauma Lens AM

Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

This school year will be different from anything we have ever experienced. Nearly all of the people in our buildings will have been affected by the COVID 19 pandemic in some way. This session will provide strategies and resources to support students and staff manage the effects of trauma in their physical classroom and in remote learning scenarios.   This training is a hybrid training. There will be a self paced component as well as a virtual trainer led component.  Self paced  materials will be sent to participants by July 29, 2020. The link to the virtual trainer led component will be sent by the morning of August 4. The virtual component will take place at 9:00 on August 4. 8/5/2020 Does My Student Qualify for Alternate Assessment

Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

This hybrid Professional Development opportunity will provide an interactive walk-thru of completing the Kentucky Department of Education Alternate Assessment Participation Guidelines.  Participants will explore data sources as evidence, look at mock case scenarios, and practice analyzing the data to determine if a student is eligible or not to participate in the Alternate Assessment.  For questions on this session please contact Sally Miracle at sally.miracle@ckec.org.

8/7/2020 Guided Reading

Friday, August 7, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

In this hybrid session, participants will receive 4 hours of self-paced work on July 27th that needs to be completed prior to the virtual training date. Participants will also receive 3 hours of virtual training on August 7th. The virtual training will be on guided reading and specific ways to implement this in the classroom. Focus will be on lesson plans for different student levels, scheduling, assessment, centers, and other areas. Participants will be guided through steps to create lesson plans based on the book The Next Step Forward in Guided Reading by Jan Richardson. Participants will need to have their districts purchase the book The Next Step Forward in Guided Reading by Jan Richardson to complete this training. Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

 Mental health and well being can impact both the students and staff in your building. This session will provide an overview of basic mental health conditions. Strategies will be shared to support the mental health of everyone in your building. Strategies will also be shared to promote mental health and well being in a distance learning model. 

 This training is a hybrid training. There will be a self paced component as well as a virtual trainer led component.  Self paced  materials will be sent to participants by August 4, 2020. The link to the virtual trainer led component will be sent by the morning of August 11. The virtual component will take place at 9:00 am on August 11.
