Why Do Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students Struggle with English Mastery

  • Target Audience: Teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, Speech and Language Pathologists, Special Educators who are serving students with hearing loss, regular education teachers who are serving students with hearing loss, audiologists
  • Description: Jerri Lafavers, M.S.CCC-SLP, will present on language and vocabulary building for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.  Her presentation title is “Why do deaf and hard of hearing students struggle with English mastery?”   Michelle Niehaus, LCSW, has worked with deaf and hard of hearing students in the area of mental health for many years and will share strategies and activities proven successful for connecting with students that are  D/HH.
