- Target Audience: SLPs, school psychologists, ARC chairpersons, teachers of the D/HH, and directors of special education
- Description: The session will provide an overview of determining eligibility for the category of Hearing Impairment and decision making for speech and language therapy as a related service, for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. We will look closely at the speech and language evaluation process, including how adaptations are made for deaf students, what areas should be assessed, what information is important in determining eligibility, and how the results should be presented in the ARC meeting. We will discuss the role of the speech-language pathologist in working with teachers for the D/HH, and strategies for working together to develop spoken language and literacy skills.
