Engaging Students with Mathematics (K-2): No Fee for CKEC Member Districts; $35 for Non-Member Districts

  • Target Audience:  General Education and Special Education math classroom teachers and instructional coaches (K-2)
  • Description:  The use of concrete materials and cooperative learning have been shown to be effective at increasing student engagement, fostering conceptual understanding, differentiating instruction, and developing a productive disposition in mathematics.  This hands-on workshop will explore how various manipulatives, cooperative learning activities, and games can help change the climate of your classroom and encourage active learning.  This session will be interactive and will utilize modeling, exploration, make-and-take, creating resources, and lesson planning.  By the end of the session, participants will have a sets of tools that will have their students saying, “I love my math class!”

*Note: Participants should have access (either digitally or tangibly) to their unit/lesson plans.
