7-13-17 Auditory Processing Disorders and Language Processing Disorders- No Fee for Member Districts, $50 for Non Member Districts
This workshop will focus on identification and treatment of auditory processing disorders and language processing disorders. We will review sensory processing disorders and the anatomy and physiology involved with processing information from the environment as well as discuss differential diagnosis for auditory processing and language processing disorders. Attendees will gain knowledge of treatment approaches for students with processing disorders including strategies for improving attention, auditory memory, processing speed, phonemic awareness and reading skills. Attendees are encouraged to bring sample student case studies for discussion and strategic planning with the group.
- Understand processing deficits and determine the difference between a language processing and auditory processing disorders.
- Learn the process for referral to appropriate specialists to determine if a student has a processing disorder.
- Learn strategies to improve attention, auditory memory, processing speed, phonemic awareness and reading skills in the classroom.
- Apply strategies to specific student cases through group discussion,
