This interactive session will explore how to support Early Conventional Literacy Learners to increase reading comprehension. For deep comprehension, students must go beyond ‘factoids’ to learning strategies that support comprehension. We will use the anchor / read / apply approach. We first anchor to what students already know and set a purpose for reading, then read while thinking about the purpose, then apply what we have learned through a range of tasks.
